We believe the Lusitano is the ideal dressage horse, able through temperament and build to perform the highest levels of partnership with his rider.
True to the classical training practiced in Portugal for centuries, we ask our horses to give their performance to us following each horse's interests and aptitudes. We do not push our horses to perform. We do not regiment the order in which a horse learns tasks. We suggest, test, explore and seek cooperation, always reinforcing successful effort. This approach requires patience and sympathetic timing to advance.
Our primary objective is to develop a relaxed horse, able to concentrate on the work at hand in response to the rider's aids. In all tasks we require straightness and balance in movement. We ask our horses to work from behind, rounded, engaged, and light. From this foundation we progress from basic through high school movements over time.
