Jorge Gabriel is Casa Lusitana's Proprietor, Head Trainer and Rider. The farm is his personal vision, embodying the culture, classical training traditions and horse of his
Portuguese homeland, the Lusitano.

A USDF gold medalist, Mr. Gabriel competes regularly in open dressage and Lusitano breed shows. Currently, Mr. Gabriel is showing at the Grand Prix level with his personally-trained stallion Sansao HM. Mr. Gabriel frequently coaches riders from beginner to grand prix levels.
A horseman's horseman, Mr. Gabriel personally directs the selection and training of all Casa Lusitana horses. Reflecting the quality Mr. Gabriel seeks, Casa Lusitana horses captured IALHA 2005 National Championships for all stallion categories - yearling to senior stallion. Mr. Gabriel travels frequently to our partner farm in Brazil to select and follow the development of US-import sale prospects. New horses arrive at Casa Lusitana almost monthly.
From Portugal, where bullfighting is an equestrian art, Mr. Gabriel absorbed a deep understanding and respect for classical riding and training. Starting at young age, Mr. Gabriel worked with his cousin noted bullfighter Joao C. Pamplona and studied closely with the late master Alfredo Conde. For over twenty years as a bandarilheiro (bullfighter), Mr. Gabriel was fortunate to work with many bullring masters gaining insights into their equestrian art.
At Casa Lusitana today, Mr. Gabriel combines old-world sensibilities with an understanding of contemporary competitive dressage, creating a unique development environment for our horses and their riders.
